Rajaji National Park
is also called Chilla national park, is an Indian national park that encompasses the Shivalik range near the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayas. Rajaji National Park contains tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf dense and theek forests; Rajaji National Park is situated in Uttarakhand State of India. Park has total area of 820 square kms. Park is located in Dehradun, Haridwar & Pauri Garhwal districts. Haridwar & Rishikesh are nearest cities. Rajaji National Park offers amazing opportunity to nature lovers to enjoy the beautiful landscape & wildlife.
Rajaji National Park now became Tiger Reserve National Park. It will be the second tiger reserve in the State Uttarakhand after the Corbett National Park. There are at present 42 tiger reserves in the country. In announcement said that tiger reserve at the Rajaji National Park would cover an area of 1,150 sq.km, including Shyampur of the Haridwar forest division, Kotdwar and Laldhang ranges. Tigers are present in the Chilla and Dhaulkhand ranges of the park, which is spread over 820 sq.km in Haridwar, Dehra Dun and Pauri Garhwal districts. Rajaji National Park was established in 1983.
Rajaji National Park has highest number of elephants than all other national parks of Uttarakhand. Tiger, leopard, Monkey, Barking deer, Sambar deer, Wild Boar, Antelopes such as the Nilgai & Goral are also living here. Rajaji National Park is now famous for bird watching. It has more than 400 bird species. This park is the first staging ground for the migratory birds when they cross Himalayas to enter India. The Himalayan Pied Kingfisher, fire tailed sunbird & Great Pied Hornbill is some of the residents of this park.

Note: Park is normally closed between 1st July to 14th November.

Rules to visit Rajaji National Park Wildlife Safari

Keep silence for better chance to view animals. Shouting, teasing & chasing animals is prohibited. Do not get down from your jeep except designated points. Plastic is prohibited in park.

How to reach Rajaji National Park

Rajaji National Park is well connected by road. New Delhi is only 230 kms far from here. Haridwar Railway station is just 20 kms far from here. 20 km from Rishikesh & Dehradun Jollygrant Airprt is just 35 kms far from here.

Jim Corbett National Park

India's first and finest park spread over 520 sq. kms. along the banks of the Ramganga river, just 300 kms. northeast of Delhi in the foothills of the Himalayas is the Corbett National Park. 110 Spices of trees, 51 species of shrubs and over 33 species of bamboo are found here. There are three distinct seasons in Corbett, Cold Nov. to feb., Hot- March to June, Rainy- July to Oct. Over 50 mammal, 580bird and 25 reptile species have been listed in the Corbett. Also astounding is the insect life here. Corbett is a known haven for tigers, largely owing to the success of WWF funded project-tiger that was launched on 1st April 1973. Other animals which add to its attraction are : Leopard, Leopard cat, Jungle cat, Fishing cat, Himalayan black Bear, Dhole, Yellow-Throated Morten, Elephant, Porcupine, Chital, Barking deer etc. Some of the birds commonly seen here are osprey, crested serpent Eagle, Black winged kite, Shikra, Pallas's fishing eagle, spotted eagle, Minivets, shrikes, Babblers etc.
The Gharials, descendants of the prehistoric reptilies, have made the park their home. The Indian python, viper, cobra, krait and king cobra, the largest of the poisonous snakes, also inhabit Corbett, as monitors and other lesser lizards.

Road : Dhikala is connected by a road to Dhikala- Ramnagar and from there to other parts of the state. Other centers within the park are connected by fair-weather tracks. From Dhikala : Delhi is 290kms. Lucknow 503kms.; Ranikhet 114kms.
Local Transport :
Coaches and jeeps can be hired from the National Park office at Ramnagar. Elephants are available for wildlife viewing at Dhikala, khinanauli and Bijrani. Elephant rides conducted every morning and evening.

Day 1 : Dep. from Delhi to Haridwar Arr. Haridwar at On Arrival, check in Hotel After Fresh up, Haridwar Local Site Seeing At evening visit for Ganga Aarti Dinner & Night Halt at Hotel.
Day 2 : After early Breakfast, drive to Corbett National Park, Ramnagar. Check in Hotel, Ramnagar. After Lunch, visit Corbett Park. Dinner & Night Halt at Hotel.
Day 3 : After Breakfast, drive to Jungle Safari with Packed Lunch At 1.00 PM, drive back to Rishikesh Dep. from Rishikesh.
